Painting the past
To bring the past to life, Peter Brown and his colleagues hired an artist to paint an impression of our long-lost relative.
The painting shows an adult male Homo floresiensis returning from the hunt with his prize - a giant rat. These rats still live on Flores today, but they are an endangered species because of hunting by modern humans.
