We were not alone
We are used to there being just one kind of human in the world. Wherever you come from, you are a member of the same species as everybody else on Earth and we all share a common ancestor who lived only 150,000 years ago.
But this was not always the case. In Europe, modern humans lived alongside the Neanderthals for over 160,000 years. The Neanderthals died out around 28,000 years ago, while we lived on.
