What is Biobank?
It's a world-leading programme to create a database of 10 million body fluid samples for scientists to use in their research. Eventually around 500,000 people aged between 40 and 69 will have donated samples. Each sample will be stored for up to 25 years, whilst the donor's health is monitored.
This treasure trove of samples will be plundered by scientists studying the genetic and lifestyle effects on diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and more...
