Fuel injection

Engineers have been battling with this problem for some time. Their expensive - and bulky - solution involved injecting extra fuel into the engine. Burning this fuel over a catalyst heats the exhaust gas to the scorching 600 °C needed, but wastes expensive fuel. So a truly affordable fix for diesel cars has not been available… until now.
