Express journey
Mars Express will be Europe's first solo mission to land on another planet. All 15 member states of the European Space Agency have been involved in its development.
After it's released its Beagle 2 passenger, Mars Express will move into orbit around the Red Planet. Its mission lasts one Martian year (687 Earth days) and includes mapping the planet's surface, investigating what's below ground and studying the atmosphere.
