What explanation is there for Beagle 2's silence?

Perhaps there's a glitch in Beagle 2's clock, putting it out of synch with its mother ship. This would mean Beagle 2 is calling out when there's no one there to hear it.

If the lander's solar panels have failed to open properly, they could be blocking any signal trying to reach Mars Express.

If Beagle 2 has landed in a crater on an incline, the antenna could be pointing in the wrong direction, only transmitting to the opposite side of the slope.
