Weighing in at just 33 kg, Britain's Beagle 2 lander is a self-contained miniature laboratory.
Scientists squashed half a tonne's worth of laboratory equipment down to 15.5 kg. The entire package of seven sensors on Beagle 2's robotic arm weighs just 153 g - not much more than a small spice jar.
The amazing engineering was all done on a shoestring budget of œ43 million, making Beagle 2 a bargain compared with other space missions.
