Water, water everywhere

The lake was enormous - it's hard to tell exactly how big, but the amount of water it contained could have filled up to 600 million Olympic-size swimming pools. When the dam formed by the land bridge broke, this water carved out a huge valley as it rushed through towards the Atlantic Ocean.

The valley now lies at the bottom of the English Channel, but Sanjeev and his colleagues used cutting-edge sonar technology to map the seabed and find evidence of what formed it.
