New research about the safety of the MMR vaccine is coming out all the time. But when journalists report it, they tend not to say much, if anything, about the scientific reputation of the researcher and his or her work.
Scientists or parents with a unique story to tell, like Andrew Wakefield, can get a lot of coverage, even though their point of view isn't shared by many people.
