It's alive!

Let's put the MMR scare in context. Don't confuse the risk that the newspapers have latched onto - that the MMR vaccine might cause autism - with the small risks that any vaccine or medicine comes with.

MMR does contain live measles, mumps and rubella virus. This may sound like a bad idea, but the virus injected into the body is a weakened version of what you'd have to cope with in a real virus infection. It's the best way of preparing your body to spot and fight off the real thing.
