Old wives' tales?

Reports of fevers, fits or worse after vaccination are not just scare stories. But usually children who do react only suffer mild symptoms of the real McCoy as the virus in the vaccine begins to do its job.

The real infections themselves can also have nasty complications - measles for example, causes convulsions in 1 in every 100 children. For vaccinated children the complications are still present, but at much reduced
levels - only 1 in 3000 suffers convulsions after the vaccine.
