Good idea or medical myth?
Andrew Wakefield has suggested playing safe by separating the jabs to avoid overloading your child's immune system. But vaccination expert Liz Miller says he's wrong to say the triple vaccine puts extra strain on children's defences.
'The three parts of the MMR triple vaccine don't even work at the same time in your body. Measles works first after about 1 week, followed by mumps between 3 and 4 weeks after vaccination and finally rubella after about 6 weeks.' Liz Miller, Head of Immunisation Division, Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre.
