The Motherland project's final investigation looked at how much of each volunteer's ancestry was African and how much was European.
Mark Shriver's team in America examined the DNA on 30 specific genes which everyone has, but the exact DNA sequences vary between different people. We inherit this DNA from all our ancestors, not just our direct maternal or paternal lines.
