Exploding bacteria

Scientists are planning to use a virus - called a bacteriophage - as a weapon to kill the MRSA bacteria before they infect human beings.

How does it work? The virus kills the superbug by injecting its cells with viral DNA, then hijacking the cells' machinery and using it to create millions more viruses. Eventually the MRSA cell becomes so full of viruses it explodes and dies.
