Liquid crystal displays
The biggest competition for cathode-ray tubes is the liquid crystal display (LCD). LCDs have been around for a while, the crystals are on a nanoscale but screens aren't made using nanotechnology. They are popular but not very brightly lit and you can't see them properly from an angle.
Nanotechnology is helping to make displays that are thinner, brighter and more high-contrast.
