Safe drinking
Water covers more than 70 per cent of the Earth's surface, but only 1 per cent can be drunk without cleaning and filtering. As the global population grows, and industry and agriculture require more water, shortages will become a serious problem.
Can nanotechnology offer a solution? Scientists believe it will help by detecting contaminants, filtering water and decontaminating ground water from both industrial and natural sources.
