Projection power

At the moment virtual-reality simulators are confined to the laboratory. David Swapp runs an 'immersive projection theatre' at University College London. It looks like a three-walled white room, but it's actually a gateway to a virtual world.

Each of the three walls and the floor can have computer images projected on them. If you enter the room wearing a pair of special 3D glasses, the images appear three-dimensional, so you feel like you're standing inside a virtual world.
