At the Centre for the Mind in Australia, Allan Snyder is working on a machine that could send your grey matter into overdrive.

Some people show amazing mental skills despite having a serious brain impairment - they have 'savant syndrome'. One such extraordinary ability is counting a huge number of objects in a split-second.

Snyder says he can give ordinary people a taste of savant abilities by zapping their brain with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
