The latest research shows that TMS can help stroke patients learn how to use their bodies again, particularly when used repetitively. Several studies published in medical journals since 2005 have shown that real TMS can help motor function, while fake TMS has no significant effect.
In one study, stroke patients who received five sessions of TMS were able to use their hand better than before the treatment, and the effects lasted for two weeks.
