Icy evidence

The Far North is showing much more dramatic evidence of climate warming than other places around the world. But why? In Siberia, permafrost (ground which stays frozen all year) contains much more ice than in other regions such as Alaska. Between 50 and 90% of Siberia's permafrost, known as yedoma, is peppered with solid blocks of ice, unchanged since the last ice age.
