Hard rocks
The planets closest to the new Sun had a baptism of fire. Most of the ice particles near to the Sun were vaporised and blown away - that's why Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are mainly made of rock and metal.
On Venus, Earth and Mars some of the vapour clung to the surface and formed their atmospheres, but Mercury was left with none.
