Rosetta en route
In March 2004 the European Space Agency launched the Rosetta mission to track down and investigate Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
On its ten-year journey to meet the comet, Rosetta will pass and investigate two asteroids, Steins and Lutetia. On-board instruments will check the density of these space rocks, measure their subsurface temperatures and look for gas and dust around them. This will be a great chance to uncover more information about asteroids, and test out what Rosetta's capable of before it catches up with its main target.
