Getting an eyeful
Galileo's cameras sent back about 14,000 images of Jupiter, giving space investigators the closest-ever look at the giant planet and its moons.
They saw spectacular giant volcanoes erupting on the moon Io, looked at Jupiter's faint rings, and photographed massive thunderstorms raging on the planet's surface.
