Throw caution to the wind

With a SkySail attached, cargo ships and super-yachts gain extra propulsion on top of their fuel-powered engines. Depending on wind conditions, the system can reduce consumption of expensive fuel by up to half.

A SkySail, with its winch and launching system, can be built into brand-new ships easily and added to older ones by retrofitting. It takes one or two weeks to install the system, and experts say the saving on fuel costs pays for the initial investment within a few years.
