Let's go fly a kite
To prove their kite technology would work, the SkySails team had to test out the kit on model boats. They used this 8-metre-long container ship to trial the kite system at sea.
By working with a model, the engineers could make sure the kite worked at small scales. Then they could use this information to calculate how the SkySail system would perform when enlarged to fit a life-sized cargo ship.
