Getting the message through

If lives are to be saved, putting sensors at sea to detect tsunamis is only half the battle. The people in its path need to know the wave is coming.

'An effective warning system doesn't just consist of the detection sensors. The communication systems and public education are just as important, if not more so, so that people know what to do when they hear a warning or see a tsunami on the horizon for themselves.'
