Ban the bomb
In the future, one element of our defence against tsunamis could come from a surprising source - a network of stations currently being set up around the world to detect the illegal testing of nuclear weapons.
When a new treaty banning all nuclear explosions comes into force, the network will be used to expose any state that breaks the agreement.
