Dr Jenner’s Absorbent Powder was recommended for indigestion and heartburn. Made and sold by Savory & Moore Ltd, Dr Jenner’s Absorbent Powder would have been available in chemists across the United Kingdom. It was a product typical of the large range of treatments that were available ‘over the counter’ for many years. The inevitable association with an unrelated figure from medical history – Edward Jenner – probably gave the powder a certain credibility. The powder would have been mixed with water and then drunk.
