Ceramic pendant, Russia, 1914-1918
The pendant shows two unknown saints. It was believed that saints could protect and intercede on a person’s behalf. It would have been worn on a chain or a piece of leather. This pendant was worn by a Russian soldier during the First World War, probably as a lucky charm.
