'AIDS can affect anyone' poster, United Kingdom, 1987-1999

This poster shows that AIDS can affect anyone regardless of gender, age, or nationality. AIDS was first described in 1981. There was and still is some confusion among the public over how the disease spreads. It is a sexually transmitted infection and can also be spread through infected blood via blood transfusions or sharing needles. Today, recipients of blood in countries such as Britain are protected by rigorous procedures.
