Artficial leg called a 'Loco' peg leg, Manchester, England, 1900-1914

Made for someone who had had their leg amputated above the knee, this lightweight prosthetic limb was named by its inventor, Frederick Lynde, as the ‘Loco peg-leg.’ This design was intended to be both strong and lightweight and was made at a time when nearly all artificial legs were entirely wooden.
