Anatomical model showing a nine month foetus in the womb, England, 1997

The model pelvis of a pregnant women has been cut away to reveal a nine-month-old foetus. The full anatomical structure of the pelvis is revealed and the foetus can also be removed. Made by Adam, Rouilly Ltd, the model was constructed from PVC and then hand finished, including the painting of the anatomical detail. It is part of a series showing the progression of pregnancy. Adam, Rouilly Ltd makes a variety of anatomical models as teaching aids for medical and nursing students.

Glossary: pregnancy

The condition of having a developing unborn embryo or foetus in the body. A human pregnancy is usually of 40 weeks gestation.
