Claxton ear cap, England, 1925-1945
Worn by babies and young children as they slept, this pink ribbon ear cap was “for correcting and preventing the disfigurement of outstanding ears”. Patented by Claxton, the advertisement promised that the cap would prevent ‘ugly’ ears. Claxton ear caps first appeared in the 1890s.
