Porcelain feeding bottle, Japan, 1780-1900

Containers used to nurse infants are among many ancient containers found by archaeologists. In this Japanese example, the larger spout was used to fill the porcelain ring with milk or water. The liquid was drunk out of the smaller spout. The porcelain is decorated with a garden scene.
