Specimen jar containing bael fruits, India, 1871-1940

Bael fruits contains tannin and are used to treat dysentery and diarrhoea. Tannin also causes soft tissues to harden and helps protect the skin from scratches and bruises. The plant is native to India and grown across Asia.
