Sample of cinnamon bark, Sri Lanka, 1901-1940
Bitter sweet cinnamon bark is used as food flavouring but is also used in Indian medical traditions to aid digestion and treat vomiting. Those with diarrhoea, bronchitis and asthma are given it. It is also used as an aphrodisiac. The bark is shown here with galangal roots, (A670146), also used in herbal medicine.
