Menopause test, Israel, 2009
This menopause test was bought from high street chemist Boots. It was manufactured in Israel and distributed by German company Novogen. During the menopause, the body’s production of oestrogen decreases. This causes symptoms such as hot flushes, mood swings and sleeplessness. The kit contains two tests which measure the level of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) in the urine. During a woman’s reproductive life, FSH is produced by the pituitary gland within the brain and it stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles. The levels of FSH show whether a woman is undergoing the menopause. The menopause indicates the end of menstruation and a woman’s ability to naturally conceive a child.
