Creative Quarter - 28 November 2014
Creative Quarter event gives 13-19 year olds access to some of the latest developments in the creative industries, and provides an overview of different education and career pathways young people can follow.
Students can take part in free workshops, talks and drop-in events, and meet professional artists, designers, scientists, undergraduate and postgraduate students across nine different organisations along and around Exhibition Road.
Here's what's on offer at the Science Museum:
Think - build - create!
This dynamic workshop explores the wonder and potential of computer programming through a series of practical experiments with mechanical kit.
Students will use basic coding language to devise and input procedures, test them, rework them and see the results in action.
The session encourages development of logic and computational thinking skills, as well as exploring the interaction between hardware and software.
Sessions at 11.00-12.00 and 12.45-13.45. Suitable for ages 13-16 years.
Creating Multimedia Exhibits
Discover how museums go about developing multimedia exhibits to help visitors explore the objects in different ways.
Our experts will explain how various teams worked together to create the fantastic multimedia exhibits in our brand new Information Age gallery. And we'll explore the journey from initial idea to finished article, showing some of the prototypes we tested along the way.
Sessions at 11.00-11.30, 12.00-12.30 and 13.30-14.00. Suitable for ages 14-18 years.
These events are free but pre-booking is required. Call us on 020 7942 4777.
Before or after the sessions, allow time to explore our new Information Age gallery, telling the story of how our lives have been transformed by information and communication technologies over the last 200 years.
