Michael Faraday costumed character

Overview

Fridges, computers and mobile phones are just a few everyday gadgets made possible thanks to Michael Faraday.

Our costumed character portraying Faraday takes you back to the days when electricity was just a scientific wonder. He’ll show you his cutting-edge experiments that transformed electricity and magnetism into something a little more practical...

This lively encounter is great for supporting school and project work about electricity and magnetism, famous scientists and How Science Works. It will be tailored to the age of your students and includes plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

To complement this event why not book a session in our hands-on gallery Energy - fuelling the future where students are challenged to consider how our use of energy impacts on our planet?  Or explore the domestic appliances in Secret Life of the Home to think about life before and after the advent of electricity. A visit to the Making the Modern World gallery would also support this approach.
