Getting your group to the Science Museum

Travel information

Important information

Exhibition Road is being redeveloped and there are major works in the area until November 2011, affecting both pedestrian and vehicle access.

At the moment we recommend you ask your coach driver to avoid Exhibition Road south of the Science Museum. Ask them to drop you off in Prince Consort Road or Queen's Gate (see pdf map). It's a longer walk to the Group Entrance but it will help you avoid the redevelopment works.

If you are travelling by Tube to South Kensington please use the pedestrian tunnel from the station ticket hall.

Please allow plenty of travel time to get to the Museum.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea website gives more information about the works that are taking place.

Frequently asked questions:

Where can our coach drop us off?

Coaches would normally drop off outside of the Museum. However during the Exhibition Road redevelopment please check the details above for the latest information.

Where can the coach park?

There’s no coach parking at the Museum but Transport for London’s interactive map will help you find the nearest parking area.

Can I park my minibus outside the Museum?

We have parking for one minibus adjacent to the Group Entrance, available to book on a first come first serve basis for groups requiring easy access into the Museum. Please tell us if you wish to use the minibus bay when you make your visit booking with us. If this bay is not available there are normally two parking spaces for disabled badge holders, opposite the main entrance of the Museum but these are currently affected by the redevelopment works. These belong to the RBKC Borough Council and cannot be pre-booked.

Where is the nearest tube station?

The nearest tube station South Kensington is a ten minute walk away and has access to the Circle, District and Piccadilly lines. Gloucester Road tube station is a 15 minute walk away and is based on the Circle , District and Piccadilly line.

From South Kensington Tube please use the pedestrian tunnel from the station ticket hall. Walk the full length of the tunnel then turn left as you exit onto Exhibition Road. Take the first left into Imperial College Road and the Group Entrance is about 50m along on the left.

What buses can we take?

Routes 14, 49, 70, 74, 345, 360, 414 , C1 and 430 stop near us (South Kensington Station).
