Creative Canal Project
The Creative Canal Project worked with schools and community groups based near London’s Regent’s Canal and aimed to excite them about science by making it fun and accessible
The project was funded by the Government and ran from 2003 – 2009. During that time the team created relationships with 63 schools and 72 community groups to deliver a sustained programme of free outreach events.
The Creative Canal Project (CCP) was a partnership between The Science Museum, The London Canal Museum and Beauchamp Lodge Floating Classroom. Each group involved in the project received three outreach events with the CCP Team and project partners, a show or workshop at the school or community centre, a visit to the Science Museum, a visit to the Canal Museum and a trip on the Beauchamp Lodge floating classroom.
CCP was funded jointly by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Children, Schools and Families as part of the Strategic Commissioning Programme for Museum and Gallery Education.
