Initial Teacher Training

We are keen to work with ITE tutors to deliver sessions about using museums  for QTT standard 3.1.5, teaching in settings other than schools.

Teacher

Learning in Museums

This session has been developed especially for groups of trainee teachers – either at B.Ed. or PGCE level. This course perfectly covers the requirement to learn about using informal environments for teaching and learning, and also shares valuable skills for new teachers.

The day includes

  • Interactive presentations about the Science Musuem’s galleries, resources and gallery-based activities
  • Opportunities to try out our classroom activities and learn more about how we develop them
  • Practical guidance on planning a visit ato meet the curriculum and students’ needs
  • Lots of time exploring the galleries with activities to help student teachers to develop their learning
  • Opportunities to share ideas and experiences with our staff and other colleagues
  • A  Question and Answer session at the end of the day
  • A goody bag for each participant to take away.

This programme is run at a special discount rate of £5 per person for which we will send course tutors an invoice.

It is suitable for groups of 20 – 50 delegates. If you have a smaller or larger group, or you wish to organise a half-day session, please contact us and we will discuss other options with you.

In order to keep costs very low, we don’t provide refreshments on the day unless requested – delegates can bring their own lunch or eat in one of our cafes.

To book, or for more information, please contact the Education Booking Office on 020 7942 4777.
