How do you do? It’s 1904 and housemaid Florrie is acquainting herself with some new-fangled equipment – the vacuum cleaner.

Join Florrie as she shares some of the household gossip about Lady Barking’s grand London house and her preparations to welcome a new domestic appliance that will change the way she does the spring cleaning for ever.

Our Florrie the Maid character offers a lively insight into the day-to-day life of a domestic servant and the impact that new technology and inventions had on her world.

This session is ideal for supporting learning about inventions and people, and changes in Edwardian Britain at the turn of the 20th century. A visit to our Secret Life of the Home gallery would complement this area of study.

Cost: £3 per student, accompanying adults free. Booking terms apply..
