Gene Cernan drama character

NASA astronaut Eugene (Gene) Cernan flew aboard the Apollo missions which amazed the world by taking people to the Moon.

Meet our costumed character portraying Gene Cernan to hear about his adventurous journeys into space. Find out what it is like to eat, drink and live in space, and even to walk on the Moon. This lively encounter has plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

"He tells a good yarn, responds well to questions and, in the moment, it’s incredibly easy to forget he’s an actor. There’s something pupils get from the session that really can’t be got in school." ITT Tutor, Roehampton University.

Meeting Gene Cernan is ideal for supporting classroom work on space, forces and motion and/or famous people for Year 2 upwards.

To complement this event we recommend visiting the Exploring Space gallery, and taking a look at the Apollo 10 Command Capsule flown by Gene Cernan, in the Making the Modern World gallery.

You could also continue the theme by booking tickets to watch one of the stunning space-related films in our IMAX Cinema. Fly Me to the Moon is an animated adventure into space for Year 2 and KS2 or Hubble 3D is great for KS3 upwards.

Cost: £3 per student, accompanying adults free. Booking terms apply..
