Displays featuring technologies such as the contraceptive pill show how medicine has had a cultural impact. Others, like the MMR vaccine, show how medicine has created dilemmas.

How do we know smoking is bad for us? The second section of the gallery uses interactives to examine how we measure health, and shows how medicine is as much about preventing ill health as curing it.

The final section of the gallery looks at the science and technologies used by researchers to understand the causes of disease.
