Developed in conjunction with teachers, students, accessibility experts and scientists, Launchpad supports six key areas of the KS2 and KS3 Science curriculum. The exhibits in the gallery are organised according to these themes - Light, Materials, Energy Transfer, Forces and Motion, Electricity and Magnetism and Sound.
Launchpad exhibits encourage open-ended exploration and inquiry as well as discussion and questioning. Students of all abilities will be in control, coming up with their own questions and discovering the answers for themselves.
But they’re not on their own. Launchpad has a team of friendly, knowledgeable Explainers who are there to help you make the most of your visit. They will support your group’s investigations and further their understanding at the exhibits, and their gallery demonstrations and Science Shows will make your visit even more memorable. All groups are briefed by Explainers, and alongside the interactive exhibits are activities to extend student’s learning and encourage reflection.
