All aboard! We’re off to meet George Stephenson, a pioneering railway engineer and inventor of the world-famous Rocket locomotive.
Hear how his curiosity about how machines work led him to become the ‘father of the railways’. And he'll tell you about the Rainhill Trials, a legendary race in which Rocket was the best locomotive, and the lasting impact of his work on our railways today.
Our costumed character portraying George Stephenson offers plenty of opportunities to ask questions as he brings to life his story of success in the Industrial Revolution.
Booking terms apply for this event.
Recommended for supporting classroom work about Victorians, the Industrial Revolution, famous people and transport. It’s also a perfect accompaniment to a visit to the Energy Hall, Making the Modern World and James Watt and our world.
