Web Lab is the place to discover the power of the web!

Five 'experiments' allow students to join with online visitors worldwide to create music together, watch their portrait being drawn by a robot and more. All while finding out how the internet works.

What are the five experiments?

Universal Orchestra: Play musical instruments with people across the globe. Students explore how the web allows for real-time collaborations and interaction.

Teleporter: Look into a viewer and see a live video stream showing a 360° view of a location somewhere else in the world. Because the video is compressed it’s able to travel extremely quickly. 

Sketchbots: Have a photo taken, and a robot uses the image to draw your portrait. A computer turns the photographs into information that can be understood by the robot. 

Data Tracer: Perform an image search and follow the search’s journey across the globe. See where the image is stored and how long it takes for the data to travel. 

Lab Tag Explorer: Collect a Lab Tag to store images, sounds and video collected from each of the experiments. Students can use their Lab Tag after the visit to access and download their content.
