No! American ex-president Jimmy Carter said this in 1972. There's still plenty of oil around now, so he was clearly very wrong.

Many predictions turn out to be wrong because these things are hard to measure.


People are still trying to predict how long the Earth's oil supplies will last. Nobody can know for certain.

But scientific tests are getting more accurate, so we can make better plans for the future.

Using less oil and using other energy supplies instead will also help supplies last longer.
