Disorders of the mind
Disorders of the mind (mental illnesses) such as depression and schizophrenia affect the mind. The symptoms of many of these disorders are believed to reflect subtle changes in brain function. Drugs that alter the balance of chemicals in the brain, along with therapy, and appropriate care and support, are often very successful in treating these diseases.
